I occurred to me today that I hadn’t taken any actual photos of this year’s Bluebirds yet, so I grabbed the camera and headed outside. The female was on the house as I turned the corner around the studio building. I immediately aimed it at her and focused. At that very second the male brought her a mouthful of fresh-kill and I was able to capture the entire exchange.

Now that the nest is built, it’s a reassuring to witness this sign that these two have paired and will mate, if they haven’t already. I saw little miss shaking her booty at the male yesterday but he was remarkably uninterested.
It was exactly a year ago today that the first egg of last year’s first brood was laid. My gut tells me we may have this year’s first any day.
